Why Put Flooring in Your Garage?
Many people, when they think of a garage floor, automatically picture an ugly, stained concrete floor. Not pretty to look at, not comfortable to stand on, not comfortable to lie down on if you’re working on your car. Installing vinyl flooring in your garage may seem a little unusual, but once you have garage mats in place, you’ll be amazed at the difference they make in your garage, and in how you’re able to use it.
If you’re a car buff and you’d like to turn your garage into a showroom for your vehicles, you can purchase beautiful garage flooring that will show off your wheels to their best advantage.
Even if you’re not interested in a garage showroom, if you work on your car a lot, garage matting is for you. First, you’ve probably noticed the damage chemicals like antifreeze do to your garage floor. While you may not be all that attached to your old concrete garage floor, you’d also like to not have to replace a concrete floor. Vinyl matting protects the concrete and allows for easy cleanup of spilled chemicals.
When you work on your car, you probably dread getting on your back under the car. Very few things are less comfortable than concrete. Even when you’re standing to work under the hood, the concrete is hard on your feet, back and legs. With garage mats you’ll be able to work on your car more comfortably and enjoy your time as a mechanic, rather than dreading the pain from the hard concrete surface.
Garage workshops are popular for woodworking and just “piddling,” but standing on concrete at your work bench is far from comfortable. You get tired more easily and probably wish, often, that you had a better surface to allow you to work more comfortably, so you could work more at your projects. You may have even considered buying a rubber anti-fatigue mat to go in front of your workbench and cushion the floor where you stand. In addition to rubber anti-fatigue mats, consider flooring your entire garage in vinyl to take advantage of all the benefit vinyl garage flooring offers.
And while you’re fixing up the garage with a new rubber floor, consider colored matting. If you use your garage as a rec room, or would like to, colored garage mats can spruce up the “room” and make it more inviting.
Your garage is more than a big empty room where you park your car. It’s where you work under the hood of your car, build things in your workshop, and tinker with the things around the house that need fixing. For many people, it’s where they store things and later sort through them to find what they need. It may be where your kids play foosball or table tennis. Your garage is a part of your home. When you add garage floor mats to your home, you’re making an investment, not only in your home’s future value, but in its current value to you and your family.
